The story of Sa Festa was born from an idea: to make the sounds and gestures of the island travel from the courtyard of a house in Campidano Maracalagonis.

1958

The story of Sa Festa di Casa Atzeri and the Folklore Group Kalagonis It began in 1958 when Vincenzo Atzeri founded the folk group with an ambitious dream: to bring the colors and traditions of Sardinia beyond the borders of the island.

1961

Three years later, in 1961, Vincenzo realized an innovative idea for the time, opening Sa Festa in the historic Campidanese house of Maracalagonis. Vincenzo Atzeri's intuition was to combine Sardinian food and wine with typical folklore shows, creating an authentic representation of the Sardinian village festival.

1960s–1980s

The Folklore Group Kalagonis, began his international tours in the 1960s, becoming an ambassador of Sardinian traditions in the world. For almost half a century, the group has performed in Australia, the United States, Mexico and various parts of Europe, offering songs and costumes of extraordinary beauty. Vincenzo Atzeri, defined as the "king of folk", has never stopped, taking care of everything down to the smallest details.

1990s–2000s

Vincenzo also promotes folk in associations. He takes care of details, supports groups and initiatives. The house remains a beacon for those seeking authentic sound. Orlando Mascia, grew up in Kalagonis, plays for John Paul II. The voice of the island reaches millions of people.

2020

Orlando Mascia inaugurates the MuSPoS (Museum of Sardinian Folk Instruments) in Anyway, exhibiting 152 artefacts from his collection, tangible evidence of the musical heritage passed down through the group Kalagonis.

2022

On December 19, 2022, at the age of 80, Vincenzo Atzeri left us. Today the Folklore Group Kalagonis e Sa Festa di Casa Atzeri they represent over 67 years of history of Sardinian traditions, a cultural heritage that has been able to evolve while keeping its roots intact. The legacy of Vincenzo Atzeri continues to live on through the testimonies of the artists he trained, such as Orlando Mascia, and through the family continuity that keeps the tradition of Sardinian hospitality alive.
